NAD+

Research Use Only | Not for Human Consumption

NAD+ is primarily studied for its central role in cellular energy production, mitochondrial activity, DNA-repair signaling, and age-related changes in cell function. It is not a peptide, but it is an essential molecule used by cells to convert nutrients into usable energy and support multiple cellular-maintenance pathways.

What Is NAD+?

NAD+ stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. It is a naturally occurring coenzyme found in living cells and is not technically a peptide.

Its best-known role is helping cells transfer energy during metabolic reactions. NAD+ is also required by enzymes involved in mitochondrial activity, cellular stress responses, DNA-repair signaling, and the regulation of processes associated with aging.

Researchers study how NAD+ levels change during metabolic stress and across the lifespan, as well as how changes in NAD+ availability affect different tissues and cell models. Findings involving NAD+ precursors or NAD+-supporting strategies should not automatically be treated as evidence for every form of NAD+ research material.
